Last week, we showed you around the main house and the ohana. This week, we’re going to show you around the property a bit more.
We live on 3 acres. About half is “landscaped” (but very overgrown), and the other half is untouched forest.
Showing the property is actually quite difficult because the vegetation is so thick. But here are some shots from around the yard.
The Cleanup
We’ve spent the last few months “thinning”. The property was just too overgrown. At times our efforts have felt futile because stuff grows back so quickly here. It’s a bit like Jumanji. But we are slowly making progress and making the property easier to maintain, and hopefully more beautiful.
There is so much biodiversity on the property, but you couldn’t see it when we first got here. For the past few months, we’ve slowly been “reclaiming” a lot of the property and we can now see just how diverse this property really is.
Once the thinning is complete, then it’s time for the fun part: actually “designing” our landscape. You can grow just about anything over here, and we plan on taking full advantage of that luxury.
‘Til next week!
